Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Software & Computer Services and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite fell 5.22% to hit a new 3-year low, while the SZSE Component index fell 6.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Gangtai Holdin (SS:600687), which rose 10.05% or 0.370 points to trade at 4.050 at the close. Hengtong Logistics Co Ltd (SS:603223) added 10.02% or 1.32 points to end at 14.49 and Sichuan Golden Summit Group Joint Stock Co Ltd (SS:600678) was up 9.97% or 0.590 points to 6.510 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anhui Wanwei Updated High-tech Material Industry Co Ltd (SS:600063), which lost 10.15% or 0.270 points to trade at 2.390 in late trade. Heilongjiang Interchina Water Treatment Co Ltd (SS:600187) declined 10.14% or 0.290 points to end at 2.570 and Chongqing Dima Industry Co Ltd (SS:600565) shed 10.14% or 0.290 points to 2.570.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Beihai Yinhe Industry Investment Co Ltd (SZ:000806) which rose 3.36% to 4.31, Jiangsu Shagang Co Ltd (SZ:002075) which was unchanged 0.00% to settle at 33.00 and Guangdong Homa Appliances Co Ltd (SZ:002668) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 20.10.
The worst performers were Guangdong Advertising Co Ltd (SZ:002400) which was down 10.14% to 2.57 in late trade, Tianjin Chase Sun Pharmaceutical Co Ltd (SZ:300026) which lost 10.12% to settle at 3.11 and Goldleaf Jewelry Co Ltd (SZ:000587) which was down 10.10% to 2.58 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1434 to 21 and 5 ended unchanged on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 28.81 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.65% or 7.70 to $1201.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.81% or 0.59 to hit $72.58 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.84% or 0.70 to trade at $82.39 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.03% to 6.9263, while EUR/CNY rose 0.30% to 7.9994.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 95.00.
