Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 added 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Sports Direct International PLC (LONDON:SPD), which rose 3.41% or 25.50 points to trade at 772.50 at the close. Meanwhile, J Sainsbury PLC (LONDON:SBRY) added 2.14% or 5.70 points to end at 272.30 and Tui AG (LONDON:TUIT) was up 1.81% or 20.00 points to 1122.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randgold Resources Ltd (LONDON:RRS), which fell 4.67% or 187.00 points to trade at 3817.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LONDON:FRES) declined 4.41% or 29.00 points to end at 629.00 and Meggitt PLC (LONDON:MGGT) was down 1.99% or 9.90 points to 486.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1529 to 1114 and 412 ended unchanged.

Gold for August delivery was down 2.02% or 22.90 to $1109.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.13% or 0.58 to hit $50.63 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.81% or 0.47 to trade at $56.63 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.07% to 1.5592, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.6960.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 97.99.
