Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.69% to hit a new 52-week low, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX), which rose 2.80% or 3.25 points to trade at 119.50 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 1.42% or 0.28 points to end at 20.03 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 0.60% or 0.18 points to 30.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which lost 22.22% or 20.00 points to trade at 70.00 in late trade. Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) declined 5.85% or 6.01 points to end at 96.74 and Dassault Systemes (PA:DAST) shed 5.57% or 6.40 points to 108.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eurofins Scientific (PA:EUFI) which rose 4.31% to 421.40, EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) which was up 2.80% to settle at 119.50 and Groupe Eurotunnel (PA:GETP) which gained 2.57% to close at 10.985.
The worst performers were Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was down 22.22% to 70.00 in late trade, Groupe FNAC (PA:FNAC) which lost 7.61% to settle at 57.050 and Trigano (PA:TRIA) which was down 6.82% to 82.70 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 559 to 61 and 50 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.65% to 17.79.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.10% or 13.40 to $1234.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 4.54% or 3.14 to hit $66.03 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 4.60% or 3.67 to trade at $76.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.1481, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8834.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 95.61.
