Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Travel, Media and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite gained 1.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General Composite were National Bank of Greece SA (AT:NBGr), which rose 8.40% or 0.093 points to trade at 1.200 at the close. Intracom Holdings SA (AT:INRr) added 6.81% or 0.043 points to end at 0.674 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 6.56% or 0.051 points to 0.829 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr), which lost 7.66% or 0.0032 points to trade at 0.0392 in late trade. Intralot (AT:INLr) declined 4.00% or 0.020 points to end at 0.480 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) shed 4.00% or 0.015 points to 0.360.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 32 and 10 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.38% or 4.85 to $1290.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.99% or 1.49 to hit $51.27 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.50% or 1.47 to trade at $60.19 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.1520, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.9038.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.53% at 94.972.
