Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Auto and Green Energy sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.20%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.09%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 4.86% or 16.90 points to trade at 365.35 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 4.17% or 42.75 points to end at 1066.70 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) was up 3.62% or 27.90 points to 795.95 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which lost 2.70% or 6.00 points to trade at 216.40 in late trade. Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) declined 2.36% or 4.25 points to end at 175.80 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) shed 2.38% or 11.35 points to 464.70.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which rose 2.66% to 2855.40, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.56% to settle at 1539.00 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which gained 2.46% to close at 2711.25.

The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.63% to 175.55 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which lost 2.53% to settle at 90.50 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 2.48% to 216.55 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1172 to 423 and 51 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1652 fell and 817 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.37% to 15.7800.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.13% or 1.65 to $1317.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.03% or 0.56 to hit $55.12 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.42 to trade at $62.93 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.09% to 71.630, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 81.8295.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 95.678.
