Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Durables, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.27%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 5.26% or 119.70 points to trade at 2394.15 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 4.04% or 20.90 points to end at 538.05 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 3.58% or 17.05 points to 493.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:INBF), which lost 1.79% or 21.50 points to trade at 1178.00 in late trade. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) declined 1.63% or 4.55 points to end at 273.80 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) shed 1.31% or 3.40 points to 255.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which rose 4.99% to 2390.85, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 4.18% to settle at 538.05 and Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which gained 2.31% to close at 616.50.
The worst performers were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 1.51% to 274.05 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 1.08% to settle at 256.30 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 1.03% to 206.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 881 to 703 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1443 rose and 1199 declined, while 161 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.10% to 13.7150.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.44% or 5.61 to $1280.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.43% or 0.24 to hit $56.66 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.31 to trade at $62.53 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.22% to 64.895, while EUR/INR fell 0.28% to 76.1640.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 93.95.
