Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Fast Moving Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.68%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which rose 5.23% or 3.00 points to trade at 59.95 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) added 4.03% or 17.50 points to end at 450.40 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) was up 3.48% or 47.05 points to 1395.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which lost 3.23% or 8.35 points to trade at 250.45 in late trade. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) declined 2.28% or 4.30 points to end at 184.75 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) shed 1.64% or 3.35 points to 200.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 3.75% to 59.50, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 3.68% to settle at 450.65 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 3.41% to close at 1397.25.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 2.12% to 200.55 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 1.78% to settle at 121.20 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was down 1.31% to 1102.40 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 941 to 612 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1349 rose and 1062 declined, while 152 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.87% to 16.2825.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 2.35 to $1534.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.02% or 0.58 to hit $56.13 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.31% or 0.19 to trade at $60.30 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.20% to 71.535, while EUR/INR fell 0.33% to 78.9800.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 98.475.
