Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.72%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY), which rose 4.44% or 197.25 points to trade at 4639.60 at the close. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) added 4.01% or 24.60 points to end at 638.05 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) was up 3.90% or 6.90 points to 183.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which lost 2.00% or 12.65 points to trade at 620.75 in late trade. NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) declined 1.65% or 1.50 points to end at 89.60 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) shed 1.14% or 2.30 points to 200.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.96% to 637.90, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was up 3.44% to settle at 3042.00 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 2.50% to close at 518.70.
The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.80% to 622.10 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 1.48% to settle at 89.65 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 0.99% to 445.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 826 to 757 and 100 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1368 rose and 1270 declined, while 196 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.55% to 19.6600.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.38% or 7.55 to $1973.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.19% or 0.84 to hit $39.12 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.00% or 0.81 to trade at $41.34 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 73.546, while EUR/INR rose 0.09% to 87.2615.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 92.888.
