Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Consumer Durables and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.87%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC), which rose 5.58% or 25.10 points to trade at 474.75 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 3.49% or 85.10 points to end at 2522.40 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 2.62% or 193.85 points to 7591.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC), which lost 1.97% or 2.50 points to trade at 124.40 in late trade. Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) declined 0.91% or 8.65 points to end at 944.10 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) shed 0.52% or 9.40 points to 1790.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which rose 3.50% to 2521.85, UltraTech Cement Ltd (BO:ULTC) which was up 2.62% to settle at 7591.95 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which gained 2.36% to close at 1796.30.
The worst performers were NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was down 1.97% to 124.40 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which lost 0.56% to settle at 1790.55 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 0.41% to 204.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1300 to 498 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2343 rose and 934 declined, while 89 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.07% to 16.2225.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.35% or 6.30 to $1820.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.90% or 0.69 to hit $76.30 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.62 to trade at $78.91 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.11% to 74.320, while EUR/INR fell 0.06% to 84.1820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 95.960.
