Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Real Estate and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.90%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 9.11% or 29.35 points to trade at 345.70 at the close. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) added 5.83% or 15.60 points to end at 281.10 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 4.85% or 17.45 points to 375.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB), which lost 3.32% or 4.75 points to trade at 137.75 in late trade. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 2.26% or 7.50 points to end at 325.20 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK) shed 1.62% or 22.40 points to 1358.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which rose 3.64% to 3111.80, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was up 3.48% to settle at 175.50 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:TAMdv) which gained 2.72% to close at 83.05.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 4.07% to 137.80 in late trade, Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which lost 1.87% to settle at 324.80 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.37% to 1359.20 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 836 to 736 and 60 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1261 fell and 1123 advanced, while 138 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.00% to 28.3700.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.24% or 3.15 to $1294.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.76% or 0.47 to hit $62.49 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.49% or 0.35 to trade at $72.12 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.27% to 70.043, while EUR/INR fell 0.18% to 78.5140.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.360.
