Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Metals, Oil & Gas and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.23%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which rose 2.31% or 176.20 points to trade at 7791.75 at the close. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) added 1.98% or 47.65 points to end at 2453.95 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) was up 1.75% or 2.35 points to 136.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC), which lost 3.75% or 51.25 points to trade at 1313.65 in late trade. JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) declined 2.34% or 16.10 points to end at 672.85 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) shed 2.28% or 40.85 points to 1748.15.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 2.36% to 7792.05, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was up 1.95% to settle at 2453.20 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 1.75% to close at 136.65.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 3.74% to 1314.50 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which lost 1.49% to settle at 1171.40 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.44% to 2500.90 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1110 to 621 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1898 rose and 1241 declined, while 137 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.00% to 17.0625.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.13% or 2.25 to $1793.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.19% or 0.16 to hit $83.89 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.06% or 0.05 to trade at $84.66 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.16% to 74.715, while EUR/INR fell 0.21% to 86.6505.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 93.940.
