Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Metals, Public Sector Undertakings and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 lost 0.36%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 5.15% or 1414.25 points to trade at 28997.70 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 3.10% or 12.05 points to end at 401.60 and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (NS:HPCL) was up 1.69% or 4.75 points to 286.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which lost 4.63% or 14.70 points to trade at 304.45 in late trade. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) declined 3.00% or 11.25 points to end at 362.95 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) shed 2.97% or 16.95 points to 554.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which rose 1.41% to 3321.40, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 1.26% to settle at 945.00 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which gained 0.98% to close at 1993.85.
The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was down 3.79% to 304.45 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 3.00% to settle at 553.60 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 2.97% to 223.65 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1064 to 530 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1624 fell and 1009 advanced, while 121 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.36% to 12.8500.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.22% or 2.70 to $1217.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.19% or 0.13 to hit $66.94 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.28% or 0.20 to trade at $72.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.02% to 68.853, while EUR/INR fell 0.35% to 78.9910.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 95.82.
