Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Consumer Durables sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.75% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.67%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were State Bank Of India (NS:SBI), which rose 2.37% or 5.65 points to trade at 244.45 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 1.95% or 7.55 points to end at 393.85 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) was up 1.15% or 3.65 points to 321.70 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN), which lost 4.53% or 21.05 points to trade at 443.75 in late trade. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:REDY) declined 4.64% or 92.00 points to end at 1893.05 and UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL) shed 3.84% or 27.25 points to 682.55.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which rose 2.47% to 245.10, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 1.59% to settle at 3557.95 and Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which gained 1.26% to close at 269.75.

The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 4.50% to 443.80 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which lost 4.23% to settle at 1894.35 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which was down 3.27% to 334.15 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1305 to 310 and 32 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1927 fell and 654 advanced, while 125 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.84% to 14.4100.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.56% or 7.20 to $1284.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.29% or 0.21 to hit $71.58 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.11 to trade at $78.62 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.19% to 68.115, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 80.0590.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 93.75.
