Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 1.38% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which rose 1.90% or 7.15 points to trade at 382.65 at the close. Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) added 0.82% or 20.35 points to end at 2495.00 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) was up 0.58% or 2.60 points to 449.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which lost 4.61% or 18.00 points to trade at 372.55 in late trade. State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) declined 3.04% or 7.85 points to end at 250.40 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) shed 2.97% or 116.15 points to 3798.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 0.62% to 2490.15, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was up 0.25% to settle at 260.95 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which gained 0.20% to close at 398.40.
The worst performers were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was down 4.85% to 371.60 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 2.89% to settle at 250.45 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 2.51% to 798.60 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1312 to 243 and 18 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1921 fell and 542 advanced, while 123 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.23% to 13.8625 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.66% or 8.54 to $1293.16 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.29 to trade at $57.63 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.47% to 65.665, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 77.2181.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 93.13.
