Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Durables and Green Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty rose 0.34%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were ACC Ltd (NSE:ACC), which rose 4.29% or 59.55 points to trade at 1446.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) added 4.27% or 38.00 points to end at 927.75 and Lupin Ltd (NSE:LUPN) was up 2.53% or 44.35 points to 1795.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE:HALC), which fell 3.09% or 2.75 points to trade at 86.15 at the close. State Bank Of India (NSE:SBI) declined 2.39% or 6.80 points to end at 278.00 and Coal India Limited (NSE:COAL) was down 2.33% or 8.50 points to 355.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 4.32% to 927.25, Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which was up 2.15% to settle at 583.60 and Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which gained 1.82% to close at 2690.00.
The worst performers were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was down 3.14% to 86.30 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 2.08% to settle at 278.05 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 1.96% to 356.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 732 to 698 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 396 fell and 353 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NSE:HALC) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.09% or 2.75 to 86.15. Shares in Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.14% or 2.80 to 86.30.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 1.96% to 16.6800.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.42% or 4.70 to $1121.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.50% or 0.21 to hit $42.91 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $48.84 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.52% to 65.190, while EUR/INR fell 0.42% to 71.8570.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 96.97.
