Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Healthcare and Capital Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty gained 0.38%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.32%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Vedanta Ltd (NSE:VDAN), which rose 5.26% or 7.30 points to trade at 146.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) added 3.34% or 29.15 points to end at 901.55 and Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NSE:ZEE) was up 2.31% or 8.15 points to 361.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NSE:BRTI), which fell 3.36% or 14.60 points to trade at 419.30 at the close. Idea Cellular Ltd (NSE:IDEA) declined 2.75% or 4.95 points to end at 174.90 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NSE:HLL) was down 2.31% or 21.30 points to 900.25.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 5.04% to 146.00, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 3.34% to settle at 901.40 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which gained 1.70% to close at 268.85.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 3.34% to 418.45 in late trade, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which lost 2.08% to settle at 900.95 and Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was down 1.97% to 360.55 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 728 to 700 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 377 fell and 371 advanced, while 3 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 2.11% to 17.0700.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.22% or 2.60 to $1161.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.79% or 0.41 to hit $53.20 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.52 to trade at $59.13 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.16% to 63.420, while EUR/INR rose 1.52% to 70.9420.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.92% at 95.78.
