Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Auto and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty lost 0.87% to hit a new 1-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NSE:HLL), which rose 1.39% or 12.10 points to trade at 884.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Ambuja Cements Ltd. (NSE:ABUJ) added 1.38% or 3.10 points to end at 227.05 and Infosys Ltd (NSE:INFY) was up 1.35% or 15.35 points to 1149.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vedanta Ltd (NSE:VDAN), which fell 4.06% or 4.00 points to trade at 94.60 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd. (NSE:YESB) declined 3.87% or 27.90 points to end at 692.15 and Bajaj Auto Limited (NSE:BAJA) was down 3.44% or 85.60 points to 2406.20.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which rose 1.24% to 86.05, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 1.09% to settle at 1150.60 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 0.93% to close at 881.70.
The worst performers were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 3.81% to 94.75 in late trade, Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which lost 3.40% to settle at 2407.35 and Hero MotoCorp Limited (BO:HROM) which was down 2.81% to 2559.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 993 to 438 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 511 fell and 234 advanced, while 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vedanta Ltd (NSE:VDAN) fell to 5-year lows; losing 4.06% or 4.00 to 94.60. Shares in Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) fell to 3-years lows; falling 3.81% or 3.75 to 94.75.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was up 0.82% to 17.1150.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.10 to $1152.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.63% or 0.26 to hit $41.06 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.82% or 0.38 to trade at $46.24 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.70% to 65.888, while EUR/INR rose 1.04% to 74.3150.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 95.46.
