Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.36% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T:9412), which rose 4.87% or 21.0 points to trade at 452.0 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) added 4.29% or 135.0 points to end at 3285.0 and NEC Corp. (T:6701) was up 3.79% or 180.0 points to 4925.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202), which lost 3.33% or 15.0 points to trade at 436.0 in late trade. Dentsu Inc. (T:4324) declined 3.04% or 95.0 points to end at 3035.0 and Toray Industries, Inc. (T:3402) shed 3.03% or 16.5 points to 528.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1934 to 1533 and 217 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 27.38.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 2.17% or 0.81 to $36.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.68% or 0.67 to hit $39.12 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.80 to trade at $1702.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 109.05, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 122.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 97.558.
