Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911), which rose 8.13% or 590.0 points to trade at 7850.0 at the close. Toray Industries, Inc. (T:3402) added 6.10% or 42.9 points to end at 746.3 and Terumo Corp. (T:4543) was up 5.68% or 178.0 points to 3314.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (T:8303), which lost 12.02% or 195.5 points to trade at 1431.5 in late trade. Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) declined 9.64% or 279.5 points to end at 2619.5 and Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:7762) shed 7.27% or 38.0 points to 485.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1920 to 1508 and 265 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.06.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.11% or 0.06 to $52.60 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.12% or 0.07 to hit $57.45 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.27% or 4.05 to trade at $1513.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.12% to 105.94, while EUR/JPY fell 0.03% to 118.52.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.412.
