Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523), which rose 4.42% or 315.0 points to trade at 7440.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) added 3.67% or 200.0 points to end at 5650.0 and Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (T:6098) was up 2.27% or 86.0 points to 3873.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DIC Corp (T:4631), which lost 4.07% or 127.0 points to trade at 2993.0 in late trade. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) declined 3.40% or 23.0 points to end at 653.0 and Toray Industries, Inc. (T:3402) shed 3.31% or 25.5 points to 744.6.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2046 to 1486 and 224 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.80.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.31% or 0.18 to $58.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.17% or 0.11 to hit $63.41 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 4.55 to trade at $1463.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.16% to 108.90, while EUR/JPY rose 0.24% to 120.48.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 97.775.
