Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107), which rose 6.92% or 350.0 points to trade at 5410.0 at the close. Nippon Yusen K.K (T:9101) added 5.16% or 380.0 points to end at 7750.0 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) was up 4.41% or 81.5 points to 1931.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inpex Corp. (T:1605), which lost 8.30% or 81.0 points to trade at 895.0 in late trade. Aeon Co., Ltd. (T:8267) declined 6.08% or 169.0 points to end at 2610.5 and Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (T:5019) shed 5.89% or 190.0 points to 3035.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1822 to 1677 and 224 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 25.72 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.69% or 1.31 to $76.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.99% or 0.80 to hit $80.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.28% or 4.95 to trade at $1766.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.10% to 111.29, while EUR/JPY fell 0.03% to 128.71.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 94.140.
