Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dentsu Inc. (T:4324), which rose 6.66% or 260.0 points to trade at 4165.0 at the close. Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (T:2002) added 5.43% or 113.0 points to end at 2194.0 and Japan Post Holdings Co Ltd (T:6178) was up 5.19% or 52.0 points to 1054.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which lost 6.91% or 31.0 points to trade at 417.5 in late trade. Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (T:5019) declined 1.75% or 55.0 points to end at 3080.0 and Tokyu Fudosan (T:3289) shed 1.28% or 9.0 points to 695.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2551 to 998 and 206 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.85 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.37% or 0.21 to $56.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.31% or 0.19 to hit $62.47 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.62% or 9.15 to trade at $1464.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.16% to 108.56, while EUR/JPY rose 0.14% to 119.64.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 98.050.
