Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.94% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T:9412), which rose 15.66% or 65.0 points to trade at 480.0 at the close. Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) added 4.65% or 250.0 points to end at 5630.0 and Takara Holdings Inc. (T:2531) was up 3.75% or 38.0 points to 1052.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:9064), which lost 2.70% or 77.0 points to trade at 2774.0 in late trade. Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:7762) declined 2.16% or 7.0 points to end at 317.0 and CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) shed 2.02% or 120.0 points to 5820.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1912 to 1554 and 227 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 22.12.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.75% or 0.31 to $41.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.99% or 0.44 to hit $43.99 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 3.40 to trade at $1941.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.02% to 106.20, while EUR/JPY fell 0.31% to 125.47.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 92.907.
