Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.99%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fujitsu Ltd. (T:6702), which rose 12.01% or 1245.0 points to trade at 11615.0 at the close. Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) added 11.70% or 46.0 points to end at 439.0 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) was up 7.64% or 800.0 points to 11265.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770), which lost 10.86% or 244.0 points to trade at 2002.0 in late trade. Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (T:9062) declined 8.27% or 520.0 points to end at 5770.0 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) shed 6.52% or 410.0 points to 5880.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2515 to 1060 and 204 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.88.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.42% or 0.74 to $52.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.12% or 0.64 to hit $57.97 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.64% or 10.20 to trade at $1573.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 109.06, while EUR/JPY rose 0.06% to 120.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 97.730.
