Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202), which rose 11.81% or 79.0 points to trade at 748.0 at the close. Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681) added 3.98% or 42.0 points to end at 1098.0 and Rakuten Inc (T:4755) was up 3.10% or 29.0 points to 963.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nikon Corp. (T:7731), which lost 4.90% or 70.0 points to trade at 1359.0 in late trade. Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) declined 2.72% or 52.0 points to end at 1857.5 and Fanuc Corp. (T:6954) shed 2.19% or 460.0 points to 20570.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1844 to 1685 and 272 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 13.22.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.10% or 0.06 to $61.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $66.60 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.25 to trade at $1483.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.09% to 109.27, while EUR/JPY fell 0.12% to 121.47.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 97.025.
