Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were NEC Corp. (T:6701), which rose 4.43% or 180.0 points to trade at 4240.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) added 3.27% or 94.0 points to end at 2965.0 and CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) was up 2.09% or 80.0 points to 3905.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which lost 4.30% or 13.0 points to trade at 289.0 in late trade. Daikin Industries, Ltd. (T:6367) declined 2.43% or 350.0 points to end at 14065.0 and Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) shed 2.16% or 70.0 points to 3170.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1882 to 1574 and 259 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 16.35.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.44% or 0.26 to $59.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.41% or 0.27 to hit $65.40 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 4.85 to trade at $1416.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.11% to 107.67, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 122.61.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 95.627.
