Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (T:7201), which rose 6.07% or 25.4 points to trade at 444.0 at the close. ANA Holdings Inc (T:9202) added 5.15% or 126.0 points to end at 2571.0 and Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (T:5801) was up 4.87% or 128.0 points to 2756.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which lost 4.48% or 24.0 points to trade at 512.0 in late trade. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) declined 4.28% or 232.0 points to end at 5192.0 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) shed 4.17% or 230.0 points to 5290.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2257 to 1252 and 164 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 23.11.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.80% or 0.33 to $40.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.41% or 0.18 to hit $43.61 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.30% or 5.40 to trade at $1808.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 106.98, while EUR/JPY rose 0.01% to 121.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 96.105.
