Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction, Consumer & Cyclical and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.61% to hit a new 3-month high, while the MDAX index gained 0.36%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.83%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 3.55% or 0.202 points to trade at 5.896 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 3.19% or 2.340 points to end at 75.740 and Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) was up 2.03% or 1.910 points to 96.220 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which lost 1.10% or 0.740 points to trade at 66.790 in late trade. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) declined 0.60% or 0.090 points to end at 14.800 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) shed 0.51% or 0.360 points to 70.260.
The top performers on the MDAX were Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which rose 2.38% to 77.130, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 2.35% to settle at 27.225 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which gained 1.91% to close at 41.780.
The worst performers were Airbus Group SE (F:AIRG) which was down 2.35% to 52.621 in late trade, Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which lost 1.51% to settle at 46.485 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn) which was down 1.03% to 91.400 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which rose 12.24% to 23.475, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was up 4.82% to settle at 5.614 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which gained 2.90% to close at 59.210.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 3.98% to 6.013 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 3.46% to settle at 24.720 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was down 3.25% to 29.295 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 488 to 399 and 23 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.55% to 17.92.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.18% or 15.85 to $1357.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.39% or 0.16 to hit $41.30 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $43.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.86% to 1.1172, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8426.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.19% at 95.54.
