Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods & Services, Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.84% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Aeroportuario Del CentroNorte (MX:OMAB), which rose 4.24% or 4.190 points to trade at 103.000 at the close. Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) added 3.63% or 0.900 points to end at 25.700 and Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) was up 3.10% or 1.500 points to 49.890 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Becle SA (MX:CUERVO), which lost 1.70% or 0.460 points to trade at 26.600 in late trade. Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) declined 0.82% or 0.780 points to end at 94.770 and Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:BIMBOA) shed 0.58% or 0.230 points to 39.160.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 186 to 98 and 20 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.30% or 3.85 to $1289.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.46% or 0.70 to hit $48.66 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.84% or 0.48 to trade at $57.54 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.34% to 19.3535, while EUR/MXN rose 0.41% to 22.2111.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.52% at 95.248.
