Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 5.04% or 2.60 points to trade at 54.15 at the close. Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) added 4.98% or 11.50 points to end at 242.50 and Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) was up 4.44% or 0.30 points to 7.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 4.96% or 5.20 points to trade at 99.70 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 4.68% or 0.110 points to end at 2.290 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) shed 3.52% or 0.85 points to 23.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 49 to 43 and 17 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.20% or 0.12 to $61.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.39% or 0.25 to hit $64.08 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 1.20% or 15.70 to trade at $1320.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.98% to 443.560, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 360.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 89.97.
