Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN), which rose 3.57% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.600 at the close. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) added 7.02% or 0.040 points to end at 0.610 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) was up 4.99% or 1.99 points to 40.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH), which lost 2.42% or 0.230 points to trade at 9.280 in late trade. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 1.96% or 0.40 points to end at 20.40 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) shed 0.68% or 0.020 points to 2.940.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 53 to 19 and 16 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.92% or 0.57 to $61.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.59% or 0.40 to hit $67.67 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 0.80 to trade at $1322.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.08% to 434.500, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 360.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 91.72.
