Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Trading & Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Crowell (TW:2528), which rose 10.00% or 0.88 points to trade at 9.68 at the close. Hitron Tech (TW:2419) added 9.98% or 2.05 points to end at 22.60 and Genius (TW:3406) was up 9.92% or 23.50 points to 260.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chia Chang (TW:4942), which lost 5.42% or 1.50 points to trade at 26.20 in late trade. New Asia Const (TW:2516) declined 5.34% or 0.46 points to end at 8.15 and Chia Her Industrial (TW:1449) shed 5.08% or 0.27 points to 5.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 470 to 311 and 97 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.73% or 0.35 to $47.89 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.61% or 0.31 to hit $50.65 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.11% or 1.35 to trade at $1247.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 30.490, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2265.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 99.50.
