Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Power and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which rose 3.24% or 2.75 points to trade at 87.61 at the close. Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 3.15% or 3.41 points to end at 111.50 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTADR) was up 3.14% or 16 points to 526 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Akron (MCX:AKRN), which lost 2.81% or 100.0 points to trade at 3455.0 in late trade. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) declined 2.79% or 0.640 points to end at 22.260 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) shed 1.82% or 5.90 points to 318.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 128 to 96 and 21 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 1.22% to 25.760.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.89% or 11.75 to $1329.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.36% or 1.04 to hit $45.09 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.79% or 0.82 to trade at $46.70 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.84% to 64.2350, while EUR/RUB fell 0.82% to 71.671.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 95.78.
