Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Real Estate and IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.07% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were ITC Ltd (NS:ITC), which rose 4.40% or 11.80 points to trade at 280.25 at the close. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) added 1.25% or 10.65 points to end at 866.05 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 0.99% or 10.15 points to 1039.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which lost 4.56% or 5.15 points to trade at 107.80 in late trade. Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) declined 4.45% or 16.05 points to end at 344.60 and Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) shed 2.20% or 3.70 points to 164.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which rose 4.85% to 281.20, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which was up 1.12% to settle at 1040.00 and Wipro Ltd. (BO:WIPR) which gained 0.89% to close at 504.00.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 3.73% to 346.80 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.74% to settle at 274.10 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.37% to 1303.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 874 to 624 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1535 fell and 1214 advanced, while 190 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.48% to 11.8525 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.11% or 1.35 to $1228.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.37% or 0.18 to hit $48.93 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.16 to trade at $51.90 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 65.457, while EUR/INR rose 0.23% to 70.5489.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 100.02.
