Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.27% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC), which rose 3.82% or 0.82 points to trade at 22.50 at the close. Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO) added 1.56% or 0.79 points to end at 51.50 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) was up 1.02% or 0.15 points to 14.79 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 4.21% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.910 in late trade. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) declined 1.28% or 0.19 points to end at 14.61 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 14.43.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 24 to 12 and 66 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.35% or 0.17 to $49.40 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.42% or 0.22 to hit $52.35 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.95% or 12.16 to trade at $1265.34 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.19% to 342.420, while USD/NGN fell 3.76% to 305.550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 98.59.
