Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Communication and Internet, Iron & Steel and Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Precision (TW:3016), which rose 9.90% or 1.90 points to trade at 21.10 at the close. San Chih (TW:3579) added 9.72% or 1.05 points to end at 11.85 and Transasia (TW:6702) was up 9.09% or 0.07 points to 0.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tonlin Dept (TW:2910), which lost 4.87% or 1.90 points to trade at 37.10 in late trade. Entie Bank (TW:2849) declined 3.81% or 0.55 points to end at 13.90 and China Wire & Cable Co Ltd (TW:1603) shed 3.48% or 0.80 points to 22.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 410 to 317 and 147 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.76% or 0.40 to $52.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.74% or 0.41 to hit $55.88 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1162.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.15% to 32.291, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2155.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 103.24.
