Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Glass and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Formosa Sumco Technology Corp (TW:3532), which rose 9.99% or 7.40 points to trade at 81.50 at the close. Cheer Time Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3229) added 9.98% or 2.25 points to end at 24.80 and First Copper Technology Co Ltd (TW:2009) was up 9.93% or 0.85 points to 9.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ta Jiang Co Ltd (TW:1453), which lost 6.04% or 0.56 points to trade at 8.71 in late trade. KPT Industries Ltd (TW:1805) declined 4.02% or 0.50 points to end at 11.95 and Ennoconn Corp (TW:6414) shed 3.68% or 13.50 points to 353.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 411 to 344 and 120 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.31% or 0.14 to $44.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.15% or 0.07 to hit $46.93 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.91% or 11.64 to trade at $1264.26 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.08% to 30.236, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2251.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.93.
