Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Semiconductor and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.50% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512), which rose 10.00% or 1.35 points to trade at 14.85 at the close. Epileds Technologies Inc (TW:4956) added 9.88% or 2.10 points to end at 23.35 and Lextar Electronics Corp (TW:3698) was up 9.88% or 2.05 points to 22.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Young Optics Inc (TW:3504), which lost 7.89% or 4.80 points to trade at 56.00 in late trade. Nien Made Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:8464) declined 5.81% or 18.00 points to end at 292.00 and Chicony Power Technology Co Ltd (TW:6412) shed 5.31% or 3.80 points to 67.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 391 to 359 and 129 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $57.33 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $64.23 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.07 to trade at $1279.53 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.17% to 30.148, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2198.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 94.69.
