Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Plastic and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.63% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Aopen (TW:3046), which rose 10.00% or 0.64 points to trade at 7.04 at the close. Mercuries Data (TW:2427) added 9.97% or 0.62 points to end at 6.84 and Promise Technology Inc (TW:3057) was up 9.90% or 1.50 points to 16.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elitegroup Com (TW:2331), which lost 10.00% or 1.95 points to trade at 17.55 in late trade. Candmark (TW:5259) declined 9.78% or 0.27 points to end at 2.49 and Calin (TW:4976) shed 7.08% or 1.50 points to 19.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 392 to 352 and 107 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.31% or 0.14 to $44.90 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.43% or 0.20 to hit $46.45 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.10% or 1.35 to trade at $1355.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.02% to 32.204, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2084.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 96.44.
