Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronic Parts/Components and Electronics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 2.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ritek Corp (TW:2349), which rose 10.00% or 0.900 points to trade at 9.900 at the close. Episil-Precision Inc (TW:3016) added 10.00% or 3.10 points to end at 34.10 and Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661) was up 10.00% or 6.30 points to 69.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharmally International Holding Co Ltd (TW:6452), which lost 9.88% or 25.50 points to trade at 232.50 in late trade. Gourmet Master Co Ltd (TW:2723) declined 7.18% or 14.50 points to end at 187.50 and FarGlory Hotel Co Ltd (TW:2712) shed 5.41% or 2.00 points to 35.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 796 to 58 and 50 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.45% or 0.30 to $66.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.68% or 0.52 to hit $76.47 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.52% or 6.40 to trade at $1218.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.06% to 30.939, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2248.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 96.82.
