Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Cement and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chiu Ting Machinery Co Ltd (TW:1539), which rose 9.26% or 2.50 points to trade at 29.50 at the close. Evertex Fabrinology Ltd (TW:1470) added 6.43% or 1.10 points to end at 18.20 and SCI Pharmtech Inc (TW:4119) was up 5.04% or 4.00 points to 83.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asia Optical Co Inc (TW:3019), which lost 10.00% or 7.70 points to trade at 69.30 in late trade. Maxigen Biotech Inc (TW:1783) declined 10.00% or 2.80 points to end at 25.20 and Mospec Semiconductor Corp (TW:2434) shed 10.00% or 1.40 points to 12.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 714 to 140 and 64 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.69% or 0.47 to $68.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.81% or 0.62 to hit $77.45 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.00 to trade at $1198.40 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 30.832, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2214.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 95.43.
