Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Electronic Parts/Components and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which rose 9.97% or 6.30 points to trade at 69.50 at the close. Solytech Enterprise Corp (TW:1471) added 9.93% or 0.69 points to end at 7.64 and Edison Opto Corp (TW:3591) was up 9.92% or 1.95 points to 21.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hung Chou Fiber Ind Co Ltd (TW:1413), which lost 9.63% or 1.45 points to trade at 13.60 in late trade. Chang Type Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1541) declined 9.19% or 3.95 points to end at 39.05 and Yageo Corp (TW:2327) shed 8.81% or 100.00 points to 1035.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 623 to 209 and 84 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.91% or 0.60 to $65.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.86% or 0.65 to hit $74.69 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.12% or 1.60 to trade at $1281.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.12% to 30.202, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2139.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 94.50.
