Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electrical, Mining and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.32% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Segro Plc (LON:SGRO), which rose 2.19% or 27.00 points to trade at 1262.00 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 1.75% or 28.00 points to end at 1625.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 1.68% or 235.0 points to 14215.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq), which lost 2.59% or 42.50 points to trade at 1596.00 in late trade. Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX) declined 2.56% or 17.40 points to end at 663.60 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) shed 1.69% or 25.50 points to 1486.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1039 to 904 and 474 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.65% or 28.85 to $1780.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.93% or 0.64 to hit $68.45 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.00% or 0.71 to trade at $70.60 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.41% to 1.3861, while EUR/GBP rose 0.21% to 0.8511.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 92.517.
