Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.57% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 36.83% or 479.00 points to trade at 1779.50 at the close. Pearson PLC (LON:PSON) added 4.81% or 30.00 points to end at 654.20 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) was up 3.12% or 64.00 points to 2115.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 1.29% or 18.50 points to trade at 1410.00 in late trade. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 1.08% or 2.20 points to end at 202.05 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) shed 0.90% or 13.00 points to 1430.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1402 to 789 and 172 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.53% or 7.85 to $1488.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.25% or 0.15 to hit $60.59 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.24 to trade at $66.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.55% to 1.2930, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.8577.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 97.282.
