United Arab Emirates shares higher at close of trade; DFM General up 0.67%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Services, Consumer Staples and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.67%, while the ADX General index gained 0.20%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which rose 8.77% or 0.079 points to trade at 0.980 at the close. Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) added 4.03% or 0.050 points to end at 1.290 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was up 3.92% or 0.040 points to 1.060 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 4.83% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.970 in late trade. Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) declined 1.09% or 0.011 points to end at 0.999 and Emaar Malls (DU:EMAA) shed 0.47% or 0.010 points to 2.100.

The top performers on the ADX General were Sharjah Cement AD (AD:SCID) which rose 8.42% to 1.030, Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which was up 4.92% to settle at 0.6400 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which gained 4.17% to close at 1.0000.

The worst performers were Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which was down 9.88% to 0.730 in late trade, National Takaful Co PJSC (AD:WATA) which lost 9.59% to settle at 0.66 and Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was down 2.44% to 2.400 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 24 to 7 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 rose and 11 declined, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.51% or 0.38 to $74.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.13% or 0.10 to hit $78.34 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1253.60 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.32% to 4.2952.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 94.06.
