Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.71%, while the ADX General index climbed 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 7.54% or 0.150 points to trade at 2.140 at the close. Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) added 7.12% or 0.019 points to end at 0.286 and DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) was up 4.41% or 0.015 points to 0.355 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which lost 2.91% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.000 in late trade. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) declined 2.42% or 0.017 points to end at 0.685 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) shed 0.92% or 0.010 points to 1.080.
The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which rose 6.98% to 2.300, Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which was up 4.00% to settle at 0.520 and Waha Capital (AD:WAHA) which gained 2.84% to close at 1.810.
The worst performers were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which was down 2.44% to 2.400 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which lost 2.09% to settle at 4.21 and Union Natl Bk (AD:UNB) which was down 1.37% to 3.600 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 19 to 9 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 13 rose and 4 declined, while 9 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.46% or 0.34 to $74.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.31% or 1.02 to hit $79.09 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.84% or 10.60 to trade at $1249.00 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.48% to 4.2953.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 94.19.
