Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which rose 9.04% or 0.070 points to trade at 0.844 at the close. Mapfre (MC:MAP) added 0.99% or 0.032 points to end at 3.260 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) was up 0.93% or 0.079 points to 8.554 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Endesa (MC:ELE), which lost 2.54% or 0.555 points to trade at 21.270 in late trade. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) declined 1.94% or 0.245 points to end at 12.375 and Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) shed 1.70% or 0.28 points to 16.51.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 92 to 86 and 23 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.46% or 5.65 to $1221.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.49% or 1.60 to hit $47.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.20% or 1.56 to trade at $50.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.0874, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8406.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 99.44.
