Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 1.89% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 4.38% or 0.0083 points to trade at 0.1979 at the close. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) added 3.95% or 0.0700 points to end at 1.8400 and EDP (LS:EDP) was up 2.60% or 0.0800 points to 3.1530 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Montepio (LS:MPIO), which lost 0.24% or 0.001 points to trade at 0.420 in late trade. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) declined 0.04% or 0.0020 points to end at 5.1000 and EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) gained 0.14% or 0.0100 points to 6.9100.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 25 to 12 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for June delivery was up 0.78% or 0.41 to $52.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.37% or 0.68 to hit $50.19 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.43% or 5.35 to trade at $1248.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.0724, while EUR/GBP fell 0.87% to 0.8584.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 100.00.
