Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Materials, Telecoms Services and Financial Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC declined 0.88%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 2.94% or 7.980 points to trade at 279.520 at the close. Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB) added 1.70% or 4.750 points to end at 284.690 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA) was up 1.13% or 0.290 points to 26.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA), which lost 5.29% or 1.36 points to trade at 24.36 in late trade. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) declined 3.20% or 2.140 points to end at 64.800 and Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) shed 2.78% or 0.500 points to 17.500.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 186 to 87 and 3 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.06% or 0.80 to $1238.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.79% or 0.43 to hit $53.90 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.05 to trade at $56.20 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.06% to 19.9141, while EUR/MXN rose 0.13% to 21.0355.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 101.31.
