Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Power, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Magnit (MCX:MGNT), which rose 3.77% or 442.0 points to trade at 12177.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 2.27% or 13.60 points to end at 612.40 and Gruppa LSR PAO (MCX:LSRG) was up 1.67% or 10.0 points to 608.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which fell 3.63% or 0.0024 points to trade at 0.0648 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) declined 3.10% or 0.0150 points to end at 0.4695 and Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX) was down 2.70% or 24.00 points to 865.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 105 to 83 and 11 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.21% to 28.330 a new 52-week low.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.01% or 11.20 to $1092.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.04% or 1.04 to hit $49.82 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.06% or 0.60 to trade at $56.44 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.44% to 57.158, while EUR/RUB fell 0.17% to 62.230.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 97.85.
